Laetisha Scanlan and Catherine Skinner finish with Gold and Silver at the World Cup trap event in the United Arab Emirates.

Australians Laetisha Scanlan and Catherine Skinner have beaten an Olympic-quality field to dominate the World Cup trap event in the United Arab Emirates.

The Victorian duo produced Australia's first gold-silver double in an international meet with Laetisha beating Catherine by four targets in the final with a score of 14 from 15.

For Australia to finish first and second at a World Cup is a tremendous boost for our sport and it repays the faith that AISL (Australian International Shooting Limited) has had in Laetisha and Catherine since they were juniors three or four years ago.

Two Victorian ladies, Laetisha Scanlan and Catherine Skinner, will represent Australia in the pinnacle event for shotgun this year, the ISSF World Championship for Shotgun in Lima, Peru (14 – 24 September 2013).

Currently ranked World Number three and six respectively, Laetisha and Catherine have had a break-out year on the international circuit, having created Australian shooting history after winning gold and silver in the women’s trap at the ISSF World Cup event in Al-Ain, UAE. In an Olympic-class field, Laetisha and Catherine conquered all before them, including the 40 degree heat, to re-write the record books and lead Australia’s women to their first ever one-two finish at a major international event.

Both Laetisha and Catherine continue to propel themselves towards Commonwealth Games selection.
